Beyte Barrios, PhD.

Dr. Beyte Barrios is our newest Instructor of Biology.  She is originally from Cuba, where she became a biologist with a specialty in Plant Taxonomy. In 2004, she moved to Miami where she worked for the Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow habitat restoration project as a biological technician. Dr. Barrios began her graduate studies in 2007 at Florida International University. For her Master’s Thesis, she studied the influence of fire and habitat fragmentation on the biology of fire-dependent plant species. In the FIU Doctoral program, Dr. Barrios focused on plant ecology and the conservation of Florida native plants. She went on to carry out graduate research in South Florida’s Pine Rockland forests. In 2018 she become a Biology Teacher working with children with learning disabilities. At that time, Dr. Barrios committed even more deeply to making a positive difference in the lives of students by helping new generations to achieve their own, personal greatness. During her free time, Dr. Barrios loves to travel around the world and spend time with her friends and beloved family.  Her motto is: patience, perseverance, and hard work are the keys to success!
